Bavis Cup Registration

The Mark Bavis Memorial House Tournament (Bavis Cup) is a 3-on-3, cross-ice mite tournament featuring teams from the Greater Boston area. The tournament is hosted by Hyde Park Youth Hockey in honor of Mark Bavis, his love of hockey, his Foundation, and in remembrance of the tragedy of September 11, 2001.

This event is designed to be a fun, competitive, and respectful end-of-season experience for young players.

Tournament Format – Please Read Carefully

Originally, the Bavis Cup was a single 8U House League tournament. In 2021, the format evolved to include Junior House and Senior House divisions to improve competition.

NEW for 2026

We are introducing Friday night games and updating the division structure.

Divisions (NO CLUB TEAMS)

There will be two divisions only:

🏒 Town House Division

• House league teams only (e.g., Town Line League)
• Teams must have played House hockey this season
• No Travel teams allowed
• No Junior/Senior levels

🏒 Town Travel Division

• Town Travel teams only
• No A, AA, or AAA levels
• Any team that played in the Valley League this season is considered Travel

🚫 Club teams are NOT permitted in either division

Game Format

• 3v3 cross-ice
• Small nets
• All teams are guaranteed at least four (4) games
• Additional games for teams advancing in the tournament
• Games played over three (3) days

Game Schedule

• Friday, March 20: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Saturday, March 21: 7:00 AM – 5:10 PM
• Sunday, March 22: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Championship games conclude by 1:00 PM

Important Notes on Tournament Conduct

This is a Mite-level hockey tournament designed to emphasize fun, sportsmanship, and respect for all participants.

• Referees are Bantam and Midget players
• No whistles will be used
• Goals will be signaled visually
• No penalties will be called
• Coaches are expected to assist by sitting players for the next shift if an infraction occurs

This tournament is intended to be a positive celebration of the season. Teams with coaches or parents who are known for poor sportsmanship or disruptive behavior are respectfully asked not to register.

Roster Integrity

• No “ringers”
• Players must have been rostered with the team during the regular season
• Please do not bring in outside players solely to gain a competitive advantage

Youth hockey is a small community, and reputations matter.
