VHL Travel (Mite - Bantam)
Hyde Park Youth Hockey’s co-ed Travel Teams compete in the Valley Hockey League (VHL)—one of the largest and most competitive youth hockey leagues in New England.
We field travel teams at the Mite, Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam levels. These teams offer players the opportunity to advance their skills, teamwork, and hockey knowledge in a fast-paced, competitive setting. Teams are placed into divisions based on ability to ensure balanced competition and continued development.
In addition to VHL league games, teams participate in weekly practices, skills sessions, and tournaments throughout the season. The travel program is ideal for players looking to take the next step in their hockey journey while representing Hyde Park with pride and sportsmanship.
Ages
Players are assigned to teams based on their birth year and generally fall into the following ranges.
Mites: 7-8
Squirt: 9-10
Peewee: 11-12
Bantam: 13-14
When
The VHL season runs from late August with games from early September until mid March and playoffs possibly running into mid April.
Where
Practices are held at Alexander S. Bajko Skating Rink - 75 Turtle Pond Pkwy, Hyde Park, MA 02136.
Games are played as close as Bajko and Roche (West Roxbury) and as far away as Waltham, Framingham and Marlborough.
Practices
Teams practice 2 nights per week.
Games
Mites play 4v4 half-ice with one referee and timekeeper in a two-minute buzzer hockey format.
Squirt - Bantam are full ice games.
Games are typically played on Saturdays and Sundays with occasional games on Friday evenings and weeknights during school vacation.
Jerseys
Jerseys are provided by the program.
